Reading Laziness Syndrome

Recently tried to read two works: after the TV series ended, I enthusiastically read a few pages of "Sword Dynasty", and recently picked up "Big Breasts and Wide Hips", but it's hard to get into them.

I found myself suffering from reading laziness. The symptoms are like this. I diagnosed myself based on the books I finished reading some time ago, "Golden Thumb" and "Bio Nanny". One common feature of the two books mentioned earlier is that they spend a lot of ink on scene descriptions. "Sword Dynasty" focuses on character descriptions, while "Big Breasts and Wide Hips" describes barley fields and large stallions, making it difficult for me to immerse myself in the story. On the other hand, the two fairy tales by Zheng Yuanjie that I read smoothly focus more on the story, with scenes that are easy to imagine in daily life. The author spends more ink on the characters' inner activities, adding more fun and not affecting immersion in the story.

Thinking about this, it seems that my need for reading is more about the story rather than language or writing style. Upon reflection, this is no different from watching dramas or browsing the video section on Bilibili. I just want to hear a story and can't be bothered to chew on words.

It wasn't until I read "heard the panting coming from the horse's nostrils, smelled the sour smell of horse sweat" that I realized I still appreciate vivid descriptions. These descriptions that fail to pique my interest are also an important part of the nutrients in reading, just a bit harder to absorb.

Reading, unlike binge-watching shows, allows you to reconstruct the author's imagination, but of course, it requires a bit more mental energy.
